These were established in 1816, encompassing 30 hectares of themed gardens, and is home to an outstanding collection of plants from Australia and overseas, being located in one of Sydney’s most picturesque settings alongside Sydney Harbour.
You will find it a tranquil oasis from life in the busy city and only a short walk from the Opera House.
The Royal Botanic Gardens has more than one million specimens, with large sweeping lawn areas and large trees that provide shade in summer.
There is a small hop-on-hop-off ‘train’ for the less energetic.
The Royal Botanic Garden offers a number of tours, including the Aboriginal heritage Tour, as well as free guided walks.
